Explosion Protection

Explosion protection is among the legally required safety-relevant task areas of system engineers and planners: Not only is safety for humans at stake; uninterrupted production processes and environmental protection are also critical.

Explosive atmospheres can occur nearly anywhere. The usual suspects such as the chemical industry, mining or gas and oil production are not the only areas where substances that form an explosive atmosphere when mixed with oxygen are worked with. Flammable combinations occur in many industries, every day, even where you might not expect them. Such hazardous combinations also occur daily in many other branches, such as the textile industry or in regenerative energy production from sustainable raw materials. The systems installed there must meet all explosion protection requirements. Learn about why you are a step ahead with our Ex protection and whether it is also important for you.

WAGO in Explosion Protection

Principles of Explosion Protection

What happens during an explosion, which factors are important and what protective measures are available? You will learn everything you need to know about ATEX, Ex zones, ignition protection categories, etc., right here.

Why Explosion Protection from WAGO?

Products for Ex protection must fulfill special requirements with respect to ignition protection. Moreover, special solutions are frequently used for Ex protection. WAGO offers precisely what planners and system integrators in these areas want. Ready for the Ex Area

Automation under adverse environmental conditions? WAGO products and solutions are made for the challenge.

Applying Explosion Protection in Connection Technology

Anyone who wants to assert himself against the competitors in the Ex area must produce economically, in addition to providing safe and high-quality products. There is great savings potential in the control cabinets for machines and systems. All TOPJOB® S Through and Ground Conductor Terminal Blocks, as well as the special Ex high-current terminal blocks, are suitable for use in Ex e I/II areas. The blocks provide the most reliable connection for extreme environments, such as gas, dust or mines. The X-COM®S-SYSTEM, which combines pluggable rail-mount terminal blocks and female plugs, is also available for Ex applications. The components of the X-COM®S-SYSTEM are non-sparking (“nA” ignition protection class) and approved for use in Zone 2 hazardous areas.

Advantages of WAGO's Electrical Interconnection Products for Explosion Protection:

  • Economical system operation
  • Quick start-up and service times thanks to modular concepts
  • Reduced operating costs thanks to maintenance-free and vibration-proof connection technology
